Costume Preview 2015-16

I have been planning the show and have made costume decisions. It is going to be another fabulous show! Our theme is "Let's Go to the Movies". The costumes below are for our girl dancers. I will talk with the parents of our young men dancers to coordinate costumes. I will collect the costume fees of $75 in December.

Monday 3:45- PreK/Kindergarten

Additional pieces include a long hot pink tutu for ballet, long gloves, sunglasses, and tote bag. Dancers will need to provide tan and ballet pink tights on their own for the show.
Ballet- I Won't Grow Up (Peter Pan)
Jazz-Fabulous (High School Musical)
Tap- Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride (Lilo and Stitch)

Monday 4:30- 4th Grade

Additional pieces include a long blue tutu in matching color, hot pink capri leggings, and bucket/rag. Dancers will also need jeans and "raggedy" type clothing for tap provided on their own for "Hard Knock Life". Dancers will need to provide tan (convertible) and ballet pink tights on their own for the show.
Ballet- A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes (Cinderella 2015)
Modern- No One ( Disney Ice Princess)
Jazz- That's How We Do ( Teen Beach 2)
Tap- Hard Knock Life (Annie)

Monday 5:30-5th Grade and Middle School

Additional pieces include silver capri leggings, a silver cane, and scarves. Dancers will need to provide tan (convertible) and ballet pink tights on their own for the show.
Ballet- Beetle Juice Theme (Beetle Juice)
Modern- Eyes Open (Hunger Games)
Jazz- Footloose (Footloose)
Tap-Lullaby of Broadway (Lullaby of Broadway)

Wednesday 3:45- PreK/Kindergarten

Additional pieces include a fringe skirt, long white tutu, and kites. Dancers will need to provide tan and ballet pink tights on their own for the show.
Ballet- Let's Go Fly A Kite (Mary Poppins)
Jazz- Jailhouse Rock (Jailhouse Rock)
Tap- Steppin' Out With My Baby (Steppin' Out With My Baby)

Thursday 3:30-1st and 2nd Grade

Additional pieces include long black gloves, a boa, and long blue tutu. Dancers will need to provide tan and ballet pink tights on their own for the show.
Ballet- Merry Old Land of Oz (Wizard of Oz)
Jazz- We Go Together (Grease)
Tap- Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes)

Thursday 4:30- 3rd Grade

Additional pieces include purple capri leggings, a mask, swords, and black derby hats. Would like to have someone make capes. Dancers will need to provide tan and ballet pink tights on their own for the show.
Ballet- He's A Pirate (Pirates of the Caribbean)
Jazz- Immortals (Big Hero 6)
Tap- Accentuate the Positive (Jungle Book- Perry Como version)

Thursday 5:30- 8th Grade

This is the best picture I could get online. I will have a better picture to show in class. Color will not be red, but champagne/gold. Additional pieces include black capri leggings, black pancake tutu, and black sequin top hat. Dancers will need to provide own outfit for "I Hope I Get It" ballet. This can be any style of dance warm-up clothes including a leotard, tights, legwarmers, skirt/shirt if they wish. Dancers will need to also provide tan (convertible) and ballet pink tights on their own.

2015-2016 Dance Classes

I have finally had a minute to begin getting organized for dance classes beginning in the fall. If you have received this email, you have a dancer successfully registered for classes. I will share a few dates and reminders with you now, but I will send more information closer to the beginning of classes. If you do not wish to have your child dance next year please notify me as soon as possible. All classes are full and I do have waiting lists. Thanks so much!

All classes will begin the week of Sept. 14 in the Parlor. The first month's tuition of $25 and the registration fee of $25 (for each dancer) will be due at the first class. Monday Classes

PreK4 and Kindergarten- 3:45-4:30 (full)

4th Grade- 4:30-5:30

5th and 6th Grade- 5:30-6:30 (full)

Wednesday Classes

PreK and Kindergarten- 3:45-4:30

Thursday Classes

1st and 2nd Grade- 3:30-430 (full)

3rd Grade- 4:30-5:30 (full)

8th Grade- 5:30-6:30

Other dates of importance include the dress rehearsal on Wed., May 4 and the Recital on
Sat., May 7. (These dates are tentative.) The theme for this year's Recital is "Let's Go to the Movies".

Dress Code

Dancers should wear leotards and tights to dance class. This allows for greater movement and allows me to observe their body placement and use of correct technique. No specific color will be required, but please keep it conservative to help avoid distraction in class. Younger students may have skirts attached to leotards, but please no large tutus or costumes.

Older students may also wear dance shorts, Soffee type shorts or yoga pants over leotards. Again, please keep colors conservative. Jeans may not be worn.

Hair should be pulled up in a pony tail and away from the face.

Boys
Boys may wear athletic shorts (no mesh) and plain t-shirts for all styles of dance. All boys should wear black tap shoes, black ballet shoes, and black jazz shoes.

Shoes
PK3 through 2nd Grade-pink ballet shoes and white tap shoes. Please make sure white tap shoes have elastic or buckle closure. They should not only be secured with a ribbon tie. 3rd grade and up- pink ballet shoes, black jazz shoes, and black tap shoes. See pictures of preferred styles below. These may be purchased at Cordova Dancewear and discountdance.com.
